Although I was born in Dunston, Gateshead in the North-East of England, I don't think that I have ever felt ' English'. My father James 'Jock' McGhee was born in Larkhall in Lanarkshire, Scotland, but I have always considered myself as a 'Geordie' first before anything else. For many years I have enjoyed a drop of the Guinness and have always enjoyed Irish music, so I was excited when I discovered my Irish connection a couple of years back. Then when researching my mother's side of the family in 1998, I found that 'most roads' led to Scotland, in fact my English blood was getting thinner all the time............' But I'm still a Geordie' ........ however, I believe through my research that my origins are truly Scottish, and that my roots may be set in stone up there 'over the border'......but ! ( does this mean that I now have to support the 'old enemy' or still support the 'auld enemy' ?.('this is soccer talk')................ sorry 'bonny folk' but I'll have to stick with the latter !
